Although its disgusting and kind of offensive(mostly the way they animated) isnt recycling all our resources including fecal matter good?

  1. Yes and no, in the context of today’s world it isn't relevant but it would be in the future.

Recycling as it stands now is a huge drain on money resources, and actually cost more to reuse materials then to use raw materials, and there is still an abundance of materials that do not require recycling, like trees for example, there are more trees in the world now then there have been 60 years ago, but that does not mean they will be around forever.

Potentially our world will expand beyond the resources the world can produce, where recycling will become not only relevant, but necessary, even the extreme of recycling our own waste to create new food might eventually become necessary as there already isn't enough farming land to feed the entire world sustainably

  2. Feces can be used as fertilizer for growing crops. We use cattle feces so why not human as well? There are places in the world that use this practice as well. Using feces as burgers disgusts me, but a logical use would be this. Less chemicals would be used in the farmers fields as a result of this, and run off wouldn't be a problem for people in rural communities that rely on dugouts and sloughs as a water source for cattle in return.
There are hydro vac companies that go out to rural areas with septic tanks to haul away the waste that's built up in them. Why not just get them to use the collected stuff over a plot of land?
Contamination and spread of disease is another issue of course, but if precautions were taken even the most disgusting poop can be "sanitized" in a way.
At the Calgary Zoo they turn elephant and panda crap into paper, journals, envelopes, and sell them in souvenir shops. THey actually boil the feces to decontaminate them before they use it to create paper. We could use that same process to rid gross bacteria from the feces, and use it as organic fertilizer.
